What you can check safely.
You can call without trying these checks. If you choose to check anything, follow your owner's manual. Do not remove fixed panels, disconnect plumbing or test electrical parts.
Washer not spinning? The step before spin usually matters.
- Note the cycle stage. Record whether the machine stopped before draining, after draining or as spin began.
- Check the load. Follow the manual to redistribute a visibly unbalanced load.
- Look for standing water. Water remaining in the drum may make this a drain-and-spin problem rather than spin alone.
- Save the error code. Photograph the display before an owner-manual reset.
Washer not draining? Keep the water contained and read the sequence.
- Switch off normal operation. Stop repeated cycles and leave the door closed if opening it would release water.
- Check the manual. Use only the model-specific owner-accessible drain or filter instructions.
- Inspect visible hoses. Look for an obvious kink without pulling the appliance or disconnecting plumbing.
- Prepare towels safely. Contain only water you can reach without exposing wiring or moving the machine.
If the problem continues after the checks in your owner's manual, stop testing and call with what you noticed. You do not need to identify a failed part.

A washer can leave the same soaking load behind for very different reasons. The useful distinction is whether it failed to remove the water, chose a gentle spin, or could not complete a normal spin. That distinction also matters when deciding whether to repair the machine or start comparing replacements.
Why are clothes wet when the washer says the cycle is finished?
A completed delicate cycle and an interrupted drain cycle are different problems. Whirlpool explains that gentle settings deliberately use slower spins, while excessive detergent can interfere with draining and spinning. Check the selected programme against the clothing care label before assuming the motor has failed.
Write down whether the drum still contains water or only the clothes are wet. Also note whether ordinary mixed loads have the same problem as a single bulky item. These observations help make a service request specific without asking you to reproduce a violent spin or dismantle the washer.
Does every washer have a filter I can clean?
No. Access depends on the design. Samsung's front-load guidance describes a pump filter and emergency drain arrangement, but its top-load machines do not use that same owner-accessible filter. A video showing a similar-looking washer is not enough to identify the procedure for yours.
Find the manual's maintenance instructions before opening any cover. Where the manual provides a drain procedure, follow its power-off, water-temperature and water-collection precautions in order. If you cannot contain the water safely, or the filter requires removing the main cabinet, leave it for service. A filter clean cannot establish that the rest of the drain system is sound.
What makes a washer worth repairing?
Compare a diagnosis and complete repair estimate with a replacement that actually suits your laundry space. Ask whether the proposed work addresses one fault or whether other wear, corrosion or damage affects the recommendation. A loud spin alone is not enough evidence to price a bearing or tub repair.
If a tub, drum or drive assembly is proposed, ask what is included in that assembly and why it is needed. For a replacement, include delivery, removal and any installation work in your comparison. Keep the washer's capacity, the loads you wash and the condition of a matching dryer in the decision, rather than using age alone.
Clarify the washer estimate before ordering a part
ABC stocks appliance parts, and some parts need to be ordered. Availability for your washer depends on the exact model and the diagnosed repair. An online part that looks identical is not a compatibility check.
Before approving work, ask how the diagnosis connects to the suggested part, what labour the estimate includes, and whether another visit is needed. If the washer is stacked or enclosed, describe the access now. Removing a dryer to reach the washer is a different job from working beside a freestanding machine.
