Look at the sink
A sink that is also slow may point to a household drain issue rather than only the appliance.
Dishwasher not draining? Start with the checks that do not make things worse.
- Switch the dishwasher off. Do not reach into standing water while the appliance is powered.
- Check the accessible filter. Follow the owner manual to remove and rinse the filter. Do not force fixed parts.
- Look at the sink connection. If the sink is also slow, note that in the service request; the household drain may be part of the problem.
- Record the water location. Photograph water in the tub, under the machine or near the sink separately.
Dishwasher not cleaning? Look for the pattern on the dishes.
- Compare rack results. Note whether one rack or one side performs worse.
- Rinse the accessible filter. Follow the manual and reinstall the filter correctly.
- Check loading clearance. Make sure dishes do not block the spray path or detergent door.
- Record residue type. Distinguish food soil, white mineral film, grease and detergent residue.
If the problem continues after the checks in your owner's manual, stop testing and call with what you noticed. You do not need to identify a failed part.

Dishes that are dirty, dishes that are wet and a tub that will not empty are three different complaints. Separating them helps avoid paying for the wrong repair. Your dishwasher's drying design, drain connection and cabinet fit also affect whether a repair or replacement is the better next step.
Are wet dishes a dishwasher fault?
Wet plastic containers alone do not establish a failed heater. Bosch's guidance explains condensation drying and notes that dish material, rinse aid and the chosen drying options affect the result. The appropriate expectation comes from the dishwasher's own manual, especially when comparing it with an older machine that dried differently.
Describe what remains wet: plastic lids, glassware, the entire load or water collected in an upturned base. Note whether cleaning is otherwise good and which programme was selected. Avoid treating a longer or hotter cycle as a universal fix; the load must still be suitable for that programme.
Does the dishwasher fail to drain, or does water come back?
A tub that stays full at the end of a wash differs from one that empties and later fills again. Whirlpool's drain guidance includes the sink connection and drain-hose arrangement, so report recent sink, waste-disposal or dishwasher installation work. That history can matter as much as an error display.
Observe the pattern only during normal use, without removing hoses or reaching into the sump. If water returns when the sink is used, include that detail. Household drain work and appliance pump work may require different help. Do not add chemical drain cleaner to the dishwasher or keep running a machine that leaks.
Make a poor-cleaning complaint specific
A service request is more useful when it describes the residue and its location. Food left on the upper rack, a detergent tablet remaining in its dispenser and a film over otherwise clean glasses are not interchangeable observations. Photograph a representative result before washing everything again.
For owner maintenance, follow the model instructions for filters and spray arms; Bosch identifies both as important to wash results. Check how the manual asks you to position tall items and nested dishes. Avoid taking apart a fixed spray assembly or changing several products and settings at once, which makes the original problem harder to describe.
What should a dishwasher repair estimate cover?
Ask whether the proposed repair concerns circulation, draining, leakage or the controls, and what evidence supports that conclusion. A replacement pump estimate is more useful when you know which pump is involved and whether the suggested part includes a larger assembly.
Compare the repair with the installed replacement cost, including removal and connection work. For an integrated machine, include the existing cabinet panel and handle fit. Mention raised flooring or a tight countertop opening that could affect removal. Does hard water cause every cleaning problem?

Can I pull the dishwasher out myself?
