Do not remove fixed panels, disconnect plumbing or test electrical parts. 01 ### Confirm appliance and fuel type A wall oven, range and cooktop use different installation and diagnostic paths. 02 ### Save the error code Photograph the display before any owner-manual reset so the original message is available. 03 ### Check only normal controls Do not remove burners, panels, gas fittings or hardwired connections. ### Oven not heating? Separate no heat from inaccurate heat. - **Name the appliance.** Distinguish wall oven, freestanding range, slide-in range or combination unit. - **Record mode and set point.** State bake, broil, convection or another mode and whether any heat begins. - **Photograph the display.** Save error codes and settings before following the owner manual. - **Identify fuel type.** Gas and electric heat systems have different safety and service boundaries. If the problem continues after the checks in your owner's manual, stop testing and call with what you noticed. You do not need to identify a failed part. A baking result that has changed, an induction zone that rejects one pan and an oven that never heats are different service requests. The right next step depends on the appliance, its controls and the installation you would need to preserve or replace. ## Does uneven baking mean the oven needs calibration? Calibration is not a general remedy for failed heating. Whirlpool's model control guidance explains that oven heat cycles and that opening the door affects the temperature. A single reading can catch one point in that cycle, so follow the testing method for your exact model before changing its calibration. Describe the cooking result: one side browns more, the whole dish cooks slowly, or a programme that used to work now behaves differently. Include the programme, rack position and whether the issue affects one cavity of a double oven. A consistent offset and an intermittent loss of heat need different assessment. ## Why does one pan fail to heat on an induction cooktop? Induction requires suitable cookware, and the base matters. Whirlpool's induction manual explains that the magnetic area and base construction affect pan recognition and performance. A pan that looks the right size from above can still be unsuitable for a particular cooking zone. With the appliance off and the pan cool, check the cookware markings and the manual's size guidance. Report whether a pan that previously worked has stopped heating, or whether the problem started with new cookware. If one zone fails with suitable cookware while others work, include that distinction. Do not open the cooktop or remove it from the counter. ## When is cooking-appliance repair worth considering? Start with an estimate for the actual failed function. Ask whether the fault is isolated and whether the proposed repair addresses the heating behaviour you reported. If a large control or cooking-surface assembly is recommended, ask what it contains, why it is necessary and whether the exact replacement is available. For a wall oven or built-in cooktop, the replacement comparison includes the existing cutout and cabinet work. For a range, include the fit beside counters and the door opening. Compare those installed costs with the repair, rather than treating the price of a boxed appliance as the whole alternative. ## Confirm the repair and connection work separately Tell ABC whether the appliance is electric, induction, gas or dual fuel before the assessment is arranged. A repair request does not establish that a new gas connection, fuel conversion or installation is included. Ask who will handle any required connection work if replacement becomes the preferred option. ABC stocks appliance parts and orders some components to suit individual repairs. Confirm availability, what the estimate includes and any applicable coverage before approving the order. If the fault appeared after installation or other work in the kitchen, disclose that history so the supply and installation can be considered alongside the appliance. Does ABC install or convert gas appliances? Call ABC to confirm the repair needed for your gas appliance. New gas connections, conversions and related installation work need a qualified gas contractor. Should I reset an oven error code? Photograph it first. Follow only the owner manual and stop if there is heat, odour, arcing or repeated breaker operation. Is my appliance a range, wall oven or cooktop? A range combines an oven and cooking surface in one appliance. A wall oven fits into cabinetry, while a cooktop is a separate cooking surface. Tell ABC which you have and whether it uses gas, conventional electric elements or induction. Should I adjust oven calibration until a thermometer matches the display? Use the exact model's instructions. Some Whirlpool control guides specifically caution against using a thermometer reading to set calibration because heating cycles affect that reading.
