You can still give ABC a useful description: record the setting, what the appliance does next and how the result differs from its usual operation. ## Which setting is selected on your Moffat dryer? The Canadian MTX22EBMRWW dryer uses rotary electromechanical controls and includes Regular, Medium and No Heat temperature selections. Its cycle listings also include a cool-down stage. A turning drum without heat therefore needs to be described alongside the dial position. Photograph the controls as they were when the problem happened. Tell ABC whether the dryer never warms during a heated cycle or the clothes are cool only when the cycle finishes. Do not force the timer knob or open the control console. If an earlier diagnosis named a timer or heating component, include the written finding so parts can be checked against that appliance. ## Does a Moffat refrigerator need a display code for diagnosis? No. Moffat's MTE18HSKRSS top-freezer refrigerator uses analogue controls and is listed as frost-free. For this kind of appliance, a clear history of temperature changes and visible frost can be more useful than searching for an electronic error code. Describe whether the fresh-food section, freezer or both are affected. Photograph the control position and any frost without removing interior panels. Include whether a door was left ajar or the appliance was recently moved. A frost-free product description does not identify the cause of new ice buildup or justify ordering a defrost part without diagnosis. ## Is frost on a Moffat manual-defrost freezer automatically a fault? Not automatically. Moffat's Canadian MUF06DMRWW is a manual-defrost upright freezer, rather than a frost-free design. Its care requirements differ, and the same model has a mechanical temperature control and no interior light. An absent light or a need for scheduled defrosting is therefore not, on its own, proof of a breakdown on that model. Check the exact model before drawing that conclusion about another Moffat freezer. Follow its manual for routine defrost care and keep food in reliable cold storage during any interruption. Do not chip ice with a sharp tool or open the cabinet. Frost that prevents the door sealing, persistent warmth or rapidly returning heavy buildup deserves assessment.
