Tell ABC whether ordinary cooking has stopped or only a connected feature is unavailable. Those observations can prevent a software question from becoming a guessed hardware replacement. ## Why does a Café induction element flash instead of heat? The Canadian CCHS900P2MS1 manual explains that unsuitable cookware or a magnetic base below the required size can prevent an induction element from starting. A pan moved off-centre or removed can also interrupt operation. The same manual identifies the warming zone as a different type of element, not an induction zone. Check the cool pan's base and the selected zone against your owner's cookware guide. Explain whether one pan fails on every induction zone or one zone fails with suitable cookware. Do not expect the warming zone to perform like an induction cooking element when comparing the two. ## Has only your Café Precision Cooking connection stopped? Café's Precision Cooking instructions distinguish connected tool control from local appliance control. They also state that the Hestan app stopped functioning with Café appliances after July 21, 2025. For a compatible product affected by that change, an old app connection is not proof of a failed cooktop. Record the appliance, cooking tool and app you are using, plus whether normal manual cooking still works. Use Café's current instructions for the supported tools and controls. Ask about the connected feature specifically before approving a hardware repair. This applies to compatible Precision Cooking equipment, not every Café range or an oven that has independently stopped heating. ## Can a Café freezer cool before the refrigerator after an outage? Yes, on the model covered by Café's Canadian CWE19SP4NW2 guide, the freezer can cool first after initial connection or an extended outage. The guide allows a full day for both compartments to reach their selected temperatures. That explanation is tied to startup conditions; it does not explain away a refrigerator that suddenly becomes warm during established use. Record when power returned and compare both compartments with a thermometer if available. Keep food in reliable cold storage while temperatures are uncertain. Check that the doors close properly, and distinguish a cooling problem from an ice-maker or water-dispenser issue. If the refrigerator remains warm beyond the manual's settling period, request an assessment with the exact model. Do not disconnect water tubing or open refrigeration panels. Automatic fan operation can be normal on a Café hood equipped for it. GE Appliances identifies Café-series hoods among the models with an automatic heat sensor. Separately, compatible Café cooking appliances can use Chef Connect to bring on a paired hood's fan and lights when cooking starts. The full model and its settings determine which explanation applies. Check whether the fan starts during cooking and whether a compatible appliance is paired, using the normal owner controls described in the manual. Do not disconnect or defeat heat protection to prevent the fan from starting. If operation no longer matches the documented feature, the controls fail to respond, or there is a new grinding sound, arrange an assessment.
